South Jakarta Records 66 Violence Cases Involving Women and Children

From April to May 2026, the South Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control Sub-agency (PPAPP) recorded and managed 66 reports of violence.

The approach must be integrated from the bottom up

Jakarta PPAPP Sub-agency Head, Rizky Hamid noted that the volume of reports rose from 29 in April to 37 in May 2026.

"This rise signifies that a greater number of cases are being brought to light and managed. Further, it mirrors heightened public awareness to report incidents and trust in our existing protection services," he expressed, Monday (6/15).

S. Jakarta Commits to Protecting Women and Children from Violence

Out of the total cases handled over the last two months, 23 involved girls, eight involved boys, and 35 involved adult women.

Domestic violence against women remains the most reported category, according to Hamid, while psychological violence has been identified as the most common form of abuse suffered by victims.

"Each incoming report represents a vital milestone in guaranteeing that victims obtain protection, assistance, and access to justice," he clarified.

He noted that efforts to prevent violence against women and children require multi-stakeholder synergy through early education, strengthening the role of the family, fostering safe environments, and resolute law enforcement.

"The approach must be integrated from the bottom up. Hopefully, with strong synergy in handling violence, both before and after incidents occur, South Jakarta will be able to achieve its goal of zero violence cases moving forward," he concluded.
